Morgan "G" to Play Soccer for Carson-Newman

Morgan Gruenenfelder of Sweetwater High and the 90 Impact USA Nike I competitive team will be playing soccer for Carson-Newman College next fall.

"Morgan has great individual ability," says Lady Eagles' coach
Phil McNamara.
"She's a very knowledgeable player who can change the outcome of a game with one pass."

"For a player so gifted, she demonstrates unique unselfish play," says McNamara, the 2006 South Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year.

"Morgan's talent and understanding of the game enables her to play almost any position on the field. Her outstanding field vision, ability to keep possession, and great passing will ensure a successful college career."

An All-Region high school player in 2005 and 2006, All-State in 2006, and Monroe County Athlete of the Month in December 2006, Morgan "G"was a state finalist with Sweetwater High in 2001, 2002, and 2005 while winning the state championship in 2003.

Morgan's honors include All-Monroe County in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006.

Morgan's club team, the 90 Lady Impact, won the TSSA U13 championship in 2003.

She was also a member of the Six Pak team that was a finalist at the
Disney 3v3 World Tournament in 2005 and 2006.

Morgan will join four other former Impact players on the
Lady Eagles team. They are Megan Julian (Carter High), Shea Kinzer (Bearden High), Brittany Moore (Lenoir City High) and Jessie Stephens (Farragut High).

McNamara also announced the signing of three other players for the 2007 season --Oak Ridge High School standout Brianna Buckley, Kellie Gustin from Dayton, Ohio, and Lydia Wright from Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee.
