Impact-Knoxville Hopes to Add to Its Dozen State Titles The
Impact soccer club was founded in 2001 with the goal of fielding teams to compete at the highest levels in our state and region.
That first June, the 87 Lady Impact won the club's first state
title and went on to play in the Region III championships with state
championship teams from 13 southeastern states.
The Tennessee State Soccer Association (TSSA) holds Division
1 State Cup tournaments for competitive teams starting at age U-14.
June 9-11, at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Germantown,
Tenn., the Impact-Knoxville and its sister clubs in Northeast Tennessee
and Nashville will compete against the top teams from across the state
in the TSSA Soccer Championship tournament.
In the six years from 2001 to '06, a remarkable 12
Impact-Knoxville teams won TSSA state championships. Another nine made
it to championship games.
The dozen state champions are the '87 Girls ('01 &' 05),
the '89 Boys ('05 & '06), the '92 Girls ('05 & '06), the '88
Classic Girls ('04; Division 2), the '86 Boys ('02, '03 & '04), the
'90 Girls ('03), and the '89 Girls ('02).
