IMPACT USA 97 Girls U11 Soccer Teams Win Brackets in Atlanta Cup Soccer Tournament

The Georgia Youth Soccer Association held its prestigious Atlanta Cup Soccer Tournament this Labor Day weekend, September 1-3, 2007. Now in its 29th year, the tournament has become one of the premier tournaments in the country offering competitive soccer for both boys and girls teams age's u10 through u19.

The U11 Girls division was divided into three brackets, Cup, A and B, with Cup being the toughest bracket, providing competition for 12 of the top teams in the country. The B bracket was filled with regional and newly formed teams with little history on which to base placement.

The IMPACT USA Soccer Club was represented at the tournament by their top two U11 Girls teams, 97 Nike Mummey playing in the Cup Division and 97 Nike Gleason playing in the B Division. Both teams won the Championships in their respective divisions.

Impact 97 Nike Mummey coached by Rex Mummey played the top ranked teams in the process of achieving the Championship. In group play, Impact Mummey played Ambush Red, ranked #1 in GA and #2 in the Nation, GSA, #4 in the Nation, and ESC Black, #1 in OK and #3 in the Nation, to come out first in their bracket. In the Semi-finals Impact Mummey conquored the #6 team in the Nation, SCSA Gold from Charlotte, N.C. (3-2), to go on to beat the #1 team in the Nation, Sunrise Sting from Fort Lauderdale, FL. Mariah Plieseis scored the winning goal in the Championship game with many great stops by our goal keeper Mayson Liner to hold a 1-0 Win.

Impact 97 Nike Gleason coached by Brett Gleason arrived at the finals with only one loss in the preliminary rounds and three shut-out wins. Their one loss was against Lake Norman Lady Black, ranked #4 in the state of North Carolina. In a Championship rematch against Lake Norman, 97 Nike Gleason won the Championship 2-1 with a last minute goal in overtime. 97 Nike Gleason debuts in the rankings at # 34 in the USA and # 6 in Tennessee.

After these wins in Atlanta there is no question that IMPACT USA is represented by two of the best U11 Girls soccer teams in Tennessee and in the region.
