Gruenenfelder Named Women's Soccer Player Of The Week for the 2nd Time

ROCK HILL, S.C. —  Carson-Newman College’s Morgan Gruenenfelder has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, conference officials announced today. This is the second time Gruenenfelder has won the award.

Gruenenfelder, a freshman midfielder from Sweetwater, TN (Sweet Water High School) scored three goals to give Carson-Newman two crucial wins as the 2007 regular season winds to a close. Gruenenfelder scored the Eagles’ third goal against Lincoln Memorial, launching a 20-footer past the LMU keeper in the 77th minute for the final margin of victory.

On Saturday at Flagler, Gruenenfelder scored C-N’s first goal in the third minute of the game, then intercepted a Flagler pass in the 77th minute, took two dribbles, and scored a goal in the top right corner of the net to secure the 4-1 victory. The freshman from Sweetwater, Tennessee now has ten goals in her rookie season.

The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
