97 Boys Nike Win Vulcan Cup
The Birmingham United Soccer Association held its’ 2008 Red Diamond Vulcan Cup Boys’ Tournament in Birmingham, AL. The Red Diamond Vulcan Cup is the Southeast's premier tournament for the month of March. The 2008 Boys’ Vulcan Cup was host to 316 teams from 14 states. Among the participants were 34 State Champions, 27 State Finalists and 37 State Semi-Finalists.

On March 1st and 2nd the 97 Boy’s Impact Nike team coached by Rex Mummey became the 2008 Champions, scoring 14 goals with only 1 scored on them. Attending this premier tournament with just enough players to participate, the 97 Boys won their first game versus the HSC Phantoms from AL 6-0. They went on to win their next two games, coming in first in the “A Bracket,” over the JFC (3-1) from MS and Vestivia Hills Steamers from AL (2-0). In the finals the 97 Boys meet another TN team, the BWSC Ingry, defeating them 3-0.
