Impact ’86 Alums Receive Soccer Honors
Four Playing in USL Premier Development League
June 9, 2006

Four members of the Impact ’86 State Championship team (2000 & 2002-2004) are spending the summer playing in the USL Premier Development League. University of Memphis teammates Adam Montgomery and Jared Britcher are both playing for the Cape Cod Crusaders in Massachusetts while King College’s Igor Slisko and Milligan College’s David Lilly are regulars with the West Virginia Chaos of Charleston, West Virginia. Both teams are in the PDL’s Eastern Conference.

In addition, a number of Impact ’86 alums have received college soccer honors.

Jared Britcher, a sophomore at the University of Memphis, was named an “ESPN - The Magazine” Academic All-American after having also been named to the same publication’s Academic All-District team. Jared was third on the Tigers in goals (7) and tied for fifth in goals in Conference-USA. He was also second on the team and fourth in the conference with 18 points. Jared was one of only two Memphis players to start all 18 games for the Tigers.

Evan Giordano, a sophomore at Maryville College, was named to both the Great South Athletic Conference’s All-Conference First Team and the Great South Athletic Conference’s Academic All-Conference Team. Evan led the Scots in points (20) and goals (9) and scored game winning goals in both the Great South Conference Championship game against Piedmont College and in the NCAA Division III Tournament Southern Regional final against Greensboro College. The latter result sent Maryville to the NCAA Tournament Sweet-Sixteen.

Michael Houbre, also a sophomore at King College, was a starting defender for the Tornado and was named to the Appalachian Athletic Conference’s Academic All-Conference Team.

David Lilly, a junior at Milligan College was chosen as the 2005 Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and was named to the AAC All-Conference Team.

Igor Slisko, a red-shirt freshman at King College, was named to the Appalachian Athletic Conference’s All-Conference Third Team for his work in the Tornado’s midfield during the fall when King was ranked at high as #17 in the National NAIA rankings.

Mitchell Thomas, a sophomore at King College, led the Tornado and the Appalachian Athletic Conference in assists and was named to the NAIA’s All-Region XII Second Team, the Appalachian Athletic Conference’s All-Conference First Team and the Appalachian Athletic Conference’s Academic All-Conference Team.
